Wide acceptance of standards such as SCORM and AICC have lead to good portability of content among learning management systems. These standards define the interface of a learning object, but say little about its content. As a result, portability among authoring tools is poor. Our project aims to address this problem by defining a reference template for distance learning courses and working with tools developers to build importer/exporters targeting it. This template can also serve as a starting point for people using general purpose Web development tools to "hand craft" courses. We do not expect the template to support every conceivable distance learning project. Rather, we want to improve efficiency, consistency, and portability for simple page-centric courses. Features planned for the 1.0 version include: * SCORM 2004 Capable * HTML/CSS Based * Flexible Interactivity (JavaScript, Flash, ...)
